MEET KATURA

Our founder, Kat Katura, started Sidera in Santa Cruz, California in 1987 with HazMat Compliance. She had a passion for the environment and was young, inspired, and ready to impact the world. As she gained momentum in Northern California, she envisioned her company expanding to Southern California and chose to move her passion down to Santa Barbara in 1995. Kat, unfortunately, passed away in 2014 after multiple bouts with cancer, however, her beautiful vision of a better world still hold true to Sidera’s actions today!

THEN CAME RAY…

Ray Stewart joined the team soon after in 1996. He has over 40 years of experience working with Stormwater Compliance. Ray got his start in wastewater pretreatment inspection, moved on to industrial wastewater treatment, and later helped process offshore oil and gas before he ended up at Sidera Environmental as our lead consultant.

SOON AFTER, CAME JARED…

Jared Dozal joined the team with an Environmental Engineering degree from UC Berkeley. Jared helped Sidera greatly by contributing over 10 years of experience working for Santa Barbara’s Channel Keepers Street team and the Ojai Valley Green Coalition. He leads our team in Northern California by providing industrial facilities with proper training and storm event water sampling.

LASTLY, CAME ARTURO.

With Katura’s passing, Arturo Huerta, a fresh college graduate, took over the company to call his own. He had gained experience at UC Irvine working in Environmental Health and Safety and had previous experience at UC Santa Barbara conducting research testing creeks for contaminants. Along with his team, Arturo has grown the company to 4 times the size from when he began. There is much potential left for Sidera Environmental to reach!
